5 Minutes for Democracy

Lying Sacks of @#$% are worried that Iran is listening to Russ Feingold

Okay, let me get this straight.

1. Just let me know when the war with Iran is going to start. I plan to be gone for that fiasco. Canada is looking better and better all the time.

2. Since when is censuring a President for breaking the law fodder for our "enemies?"

These people make me physically ill.

Feingold to introduce Censure of Bush

All right, I guess first we must take baby steps. But, being the eternal pessimist that I am, even this little slap on the wrist will not pass through.

Calling Mr. Smith

I just finished my taxes. Since I own a small business, it takes forever and I dread it every year. Some years, I do so badly that I receive a large sum return. Other years, I do better and I have to pay. This year was a so-so year, and I will receive a little back. To make a long story short, this year after deducting all of my business expenses, it came down to roughly $20,000. I survived. I bring my lunch to work every day, only going out to lunch when taking a client with me. I shopped carefully for fuel and consolidated business trips. I employed various other cost cutting methods to survive, and honestly I feel okay. The reason that I go into all of this is this: How much money does Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney need? Mr. Cheney is already a billionaire many times over. The Bush family is a major stockholder in most major oil companies. Yet, we went to war in Iraq to insure more money for Halliburton and the oil companies. We sanctioned the Dubai World ports deal to insure more money for the Carlisle Group. How much money do these people need at our expense and safety?

The other day, I watched the old movie, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Where is Mr. Smith? Tom Delay, Bill Frist, Randy “Duke” Cunningham, Rick Santorum, all under investigation or in prison for robbing from the American people. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney closing lucrative deals left and right in the Middle East and at home. Energy bills that give billions of dollars to oil companies pass the Congress with ease. And the Democrats? Sitting by on their collective hands pretending that they represent 2% of the nation instead of 49% (actually at this point, they probably represent a solid majority). And the real kicker is, not the monetary cost, but the cost in human lives. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead, thousands tortured, thousands of US soldiers dead, hundreds of thousands of US soldiers wounded – this is the real cost for the greed of a few politicians.

Again I ask, just how much money do these people need and where the hell is Mr. Smith?

Seaports for Sale?

How bizarre can this be? The assumed, imposed, and dubious president of our country "sells" control of six of our sea ports, OUR ports, to the UAE? Our government has been highjacked by a hideously corrupt big money takeover. The Bush/Saud/Bin Laden connection is no secret. Who takes the time to fearlessly examine the events prior, during and after 9-1-1? Osama makes his convenient cameo appearances when prompted to do so, perhaps broadcast from a suite at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? Why has Congress rolled over and played dead? Is it Rumsfelds' SSB? The Doomsday Plan? Our country is crumbling by the minute. Everywhere we look we are surrounded by corruption, while only a handful are willing to speak the Truth and fearlessly challenge Bush and his egregiously obsequious administration. We are knee deep in fascism and a nazi movement is on the rise. It is here, and, exactly as history repeats itself, nobody is doing a thing to stop it. Why? Are Americans really this stupid? Do they realize that "their" president is selling off their country, while they allow themselves to become increasingly more enslaved to pay for him to do so? Is this what we think of as civilization?
